Today we are talking with Dr Greer Gilmore is a paleo climatologist post-Doctoral fellow at GNS Science. As part of her research Greer analyses sediments collected in fjords, lakes, and peat bogs to reconstruct rainfall and wind strength. This helps give us a better understanding of the role of the Southern Hemisphere’s westerly winds in past, present, and future climates. In addition Greer has also been a recipient of a Whitinga Post-Doctoral fellowship from the royal Society Te Apārangi. Today we will be chatting with Greer about how you got to where you are now, including where did you study and why as well as what exactly is a paleo climatologist and how the past and help us understand climate change in the future.
